Im going to a hockey game today. Ive never been to a hockey game... and Im not sure that I want to. Im most likely going to have to pretend I know whats going on, cheer at the wrong time, and be the one that laughs when people get punched. The serious sportster fans may become frustrated with me. The main problem is that I don't usually like icy things unless they are lemon flavored. Wish me luck. On the bright side.. I get to wear a sweatshirt. Any excuse to not pick out clothing...I will take. Wish me luck. If you have any tips about hockey game going.... comment away. In the mean time... listen to music. pet puppies. eat sherbet. wear lipstick. laugh loud.steal pens (for rachel).
Kiss the weekend hello.

nothin but a thang thang thang

I think heaven is trying to tempt me. Things that are in the wrong thing make my eyes move out of place in strange circles (like taylor’s when he thinks about laser eye surgery.) Today I was walking up the stairs in the Spori to turn in my homework. I turned it in then started walking back toward the stairs. I glanced out of the window that over looks (nothing) the bottom floor of the Spori.

As I looked out, I saw a pen sitting on the window’s ledge. Now keep in mind, stealing pens is one of my favorite hobbies. If someone lends me a pen, I will subconsciously be devising a way to refrain from returning this pen (don’t lend pens to me). If I ever see a pen sitting on the floor or on a desk or anywhere near me, I will take it. As I sign anything, I am probably trying to think of a way to steal the pen I am using. pens.

ANYWAY, this pen was completely unstealable. It sat on the OPPOSITE side of the window. The side that faces a hole in the building and doesn’t even come close to touching a floor. It was COMPLETELY UNREACHABLE by anything but air. I was literally so shocked and confused that I couldn’t help but just stand in awe.

How did this pen get there? Why did this pen get there? Will this pen ever move? How can I steal this pen? There was nothing I could do about this pen. It was as if satan himself laid this pen in this very spot. No human could have reached the ledge to put it there. And no human will ever reach the ledge to retrieve it.

My mind tried and tried and reached terribly hard to wrap itself around this pen, its position, and my inability to own it. While I did not enjoy this experience, i did eventually walk away and carry on with my life. more or less. I will show it to everyone tomorrow.

brie

Well i think it is safe to assume that we are all well aware of my strange and severe love for fiber art. That is what i look for when i go to thrift stores. that is what i hang on my walls. and that is what i stalk on etsy.

One such artist is Georgianne Holland of the Nestle and Soar studio (etsy/blog.) She almost exclusively uses wool, and will use up to 30 colors of soft wool per piece. Not to mention with every purchase, Nestle and Soar plants a tree in your honor through the Arbor Day Foundaion. we like trees. (but not tree huggers.)

I am quite disappointed that i only recently discovered her because she has a studio and teaches art in DENVER. how sad. Heaven knows i hate missing an opportunity to stalk. Anyway, here is some of her artwork on etsy.

Other fiberous art with which i am quite impressed..

wives.

Why ever would we not be looking at these beautiful spring fashions the moment it turns cold. (literally, this morning was the first in which i thought i was going to be unable to get out from under my blankets.) Nonetheless, the clothes-making world wants us to be confused, so here we are.

Erdem Spring 2011

Usually, Erdem is incredbly momish. not that this isn't, but it's a little less and i am completely in love with the sheer and the lace and the collars and the floral. I'm never a fan of the wrap-up ballet shoes, but what else would they use for this springy tea party thing? i guess it's excusble. And maybe this is still momish, but im pretty sure it is what kortney and I will be wearing as we play in our fields and hang out on our (separate) wrap-around porches. (until our husbands die then it will be the same wrap-around porch.)
